DIspersed Immigration Officers having a vigil at the gate of the state house
The #NigeriaImmigration2000 whose training was suspended shortly after President Buhari assumed office last year, have decided to relocate from their houses to the gate of the state house until their demands are fully met by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
The protesters were almost done with their training and were about to start off work as Immigration officers when President Buhari on August 20th last year ordered that their recruitment exercise be suspended. The protesters were in the state house to demand that their suspension be called off and they be absorbed fully into the Ministry of Interior.
After series of protests and consultation, the ministry hastily issued a press released including the names of the 2000 affected officers asking them to come for screening (drug test, certificate, Etc.). It would be worthy to note that #NigeriaImmigration2000 are being regarded as applicants and the press release states that new policies after their empployment would apply to them (e.g Age on Rank)
Application of these new policies on #NigeriaImmigration2000 would affect 80% of these officers, forfeiture of accrued emoluments and seniority and indeed a start from the genesis. #NigeriaImmigration2000 officers are not against the screening, as a matter of fact the screening is a welcomed idea as this recruitment represent one based on solely merit.
The demand of the #NigeriaImmigration2000 is simple and clear
1. Reinstatement without any condition
2. Accrued Emolument
3. Letter of Appointment for the ASIs
They have decided to keep vigil at the villa if the President don't accede to their pleas
